Facebook Want to Create a "Trending Topic" - Facebook seemed to learn a lot from Twitter for enriching social networking services. After two months of launching a pound sign (hashtag) to mark a topic that is being discussed, now Facebook plans to embed some sort of feature trending topic.
Company founded by Mark Zuckerberg began testing the "Trending" in the News Feed page on the website. This is a marker on the topic are busy talking by Facebook users in real-time in a city or country.
A Facebook spokesman confirmed the plan. "We're running a small test on the News Feed. Now it is only available for a small percentage of users in the United States and is still in the early stages of development," the spokesman told The Wall Street Journal.
Here, the Facebook algorithm will perform grouping on the same topic. For example, there is talk about a topic with # MLK and Martin Luther, the Facebook algorithm will classify under the topic of "Martin Luther King, Jr.".
Twitter has been using the hashtag trending topics and provide features to allow users to keep track of the conversation. For Facebook, the feature can be a trending hashtag and business potential of its own advertising.
